Using video to change behaviour

Using video to change behaviour
This video created by a worldwide charity shows a freezing boy. It filmed a social experiment to test whether people stopped to give the boy their coat. It’s very powerful and it led to lots of donations.

Could councils use video in this way to encourage volunteering in their local areas? Could partnerships use it to show examples of people affected by abuse, neglect or exploitation and see if passers by notice or stop to take action?

It would be interesting to see this kind of video put into action by local government communicators.
